Controlled Soundscapes
The crux of this project was how people interacted with their environment, and how this could transcend itself in musical pieces. His final piece for the year is about the interaction between people and the fine art degree show exhibition space. Bells sound when people enter certain zones, resulting in randomly generated music, and thus scores.

A deconstructed view of a musical score, broken down into separate notes, depicted through a ripple of circles, reflecting the bells vibration.

The layout of the publication is very stripped back, right down to the core elements. The first was the nod towards a music score, with the lines under the text. It became a device to give the publication a real continuity, as the actual content that I had to work with was a little sporadic. The second element that is a constant is the use of colour. Taken directly from the bells, it became a nice way to differentiate between sections in the book. Eight bells, eight sections.
